About Sheridan Lardner

Chicago, Illinois resident Sheridan G. Lardner is currently a student of the University of Chicago. At the University of Chicago, Sheridan is studying history and philosophy. He began his academic career there in 2007 and is expected to graduate in 2011. Mr. Lardner has many interests and has chosen to participate in various organizations in order to further cultivate those pursuits. He is a contributor to the Maroon Newspaper, a member of the Gaming Guild, officer of the Krav Maga club, and participant in the tae kwon do club. Mr. Lardner is an avid writer of philosophy, short stories, and historical fiction. As a very active individual, Sheridan values the importance and benefits of being in shape and staying healthy. He participates in water polo, tae kwon do, and krav maga. His career history is perhaps just as rich as his academic and extracurricular achievements. Sheridan has worked as a summer teen volunteer at the Field Museum of Natural History for the past four years. As a summer teen volunteer, some of his responsibilities included conducting tours for guests, telling stories, assisting with the production and formation of exhibits, and training new volunteers, among other activities and duties.

In addition to Sheridan’s educational and professional accomplishments, he also enjoys several hobbies in his free time. Some of his favorite things to do are writing fiction, philosophizing, martial arts, building his Lego city, drawing, maintaining his website, and writing for the newspaper. A few of his favorite authors are Edgar Allan Poe, Friedrich Nietzsche, Ambrose Bierce, Nathaniel Hawthorne, James Joyce, Mike Mignola, Thomas Carlyle, George Bernard Shaw, and Tolkien. Sheridan also maintains a website, realistpolitics.com where he gives a humanities viewpoint for a century increasingly turning away from the humanities.
